The brand that launched a thousand websites.

This week at JPR we’re rubbing shoulders with our sister company Juno Web Design as they prepare themselves for 3 huge brand website launches. Everything has been tested, but when it comes to the launch and transferring a development site to a live site, we sit with bated breath.

Despite this, we’re excited about the final product and we know our clients are happy too.

Historically when we have worked on these size of projects, there is a noticeable difference right from the word go, working through all the processes of creating a user friendly site, that can provide customers with a positive experience and enable them to find the products they require and purchase them with ease.

Not only that, behind the scenes, weeks of coding and development ensure the sites perform well, not only for the customers, but in terms of SEO. That’s where we notice ratings shoot up,

Mobile shopping increase

As predicted, shopping from a mobile device increased during December 2011. The surge was incredible, up by 187% on the same month in 2010.

Apples iPhone and iPad ranked top for devices used to purchase, this was closely followed by Android devices.
Not only are consumers purchasing through their mobiles, many take them shopping to search for better prices online, using comparative websites and search engines. Many retailers also offer a barcode scanner and recognition applications, which allows consumers to see if they can find products cheaper elsewhere.

So, who were the winners and loosers in the big mobile shop this Christmas?

Amazon, the worlds largest online retailer headed up the mobile spending trend this festive season and continues to grow with a store specifically built for iPad users. Next was the most visited fashion retailer in the UK,

Software for Architects – Union Square

software for architects union square Software for Architects Union SquareAs an architect, there will be certain tools you cannot live without to be able to complete your job to a high standard.  Over the decades, architecture has improved with the help of computer-aided design, but architects still need sketching and drafting tools, measuring devices and cameras.

To ensure everything is organised and in order when an architect is working on the project, the simplest item to use these days is software specifically developed for architects.  You need to be able to store and organise documents, to carry out project accounting, and manage your emails. Whereby these items may have all been separate entities, now Workspace is a programme that integrates everything making your workload streamlined.

Workspace is an incredibly popular software programme used by thousands of architects throughout the

Goodbye (cruel) News of The World

Whoever said that all publicity is good publicity clearly never anticipated a scandal on the level of the News of The World phone hacking story. Not since the Daily Telegraph published everything about the MPs expenses scandal has another story grown legs quite like this one.

It seems day after day, new information comes out to the public and it still continues to now. It was one thing invading the privacy of celebrities and politicians, but when it extended to hacking the phones of families tormented by grief, the British public were understandably outraged. Once it emerged that the police were involved in the corruption too, public opinion was never going to be restored in the 168 year old news paper owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News International.

It was expected that the woman at the centre of this scandal would resign in the light of such damning allegations but Murdoch refused to

Does focusing on technology leave your customers behind?

Does your internet marketing strategy alienate your key demographic?

Internet marketers love technology. They are always looking for the next exciting gadget or app and trying to find new ways to incorporate them into their internet marketing strategy. QR codes and dedicated smart phone applications are big news at the moment and as an internet marketing professional you certainly should have your finger on the pulse.

But what if you are marketing a website to an audience that isn’t particularly tech or internet savvy such as the over 60′s category? Sure, in five years time the over 60′s demographic could be powerful online consumers and yes, some of the over 60′s are smarter on a smart phone than a tech-geek in his mid-twenties… but these people are still in a minority and it doesn’t address how you market websites to older people now.

One of the most important aspects of working in

Why you should think before you jump on the royal bandwagon

wedding ring Why you should think before you jump on the royal bandwagonApril 29th 2011 – Prince William’s wedding day. Another day to add to Great Britain’s history books. Announced in November 2010, there has been a great buzz around the royal wedding, with brands keen to cash in on the popular royal couple releasing wedding-themed tea towels, biscuits and even sick bags.

Many products associated with the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have seen incredible sales figures. As a single woman, Kate Middleton’s image clearly had the power to sell. We only need to mention her sapphire Issa dress or her cream Reiss dress and the first phrase that pops into mind is “sold out”.

Bearing in mind how popular the royal newlyweds are right now, brands will no doubt be assessing their next move and whether they can

EJC Ruling – Insurance Companies

ECJ EJC Ruling Insurance CompaniesThis week’s ruling by the European Court of Justice regarding gender discrimination has been hotly debated since the ECJ decided that insurance premiums should not be assessed on sex. The ruling adversely affects women regarding car insurance but also men regarding annuity rates. This is because men have a lower life expectancy than women so payments on annuities will reduce for men and only increase very slightly for women.

According to a survey carried out by My Voucher Codes, 78% of women surveyed are against the ruling, which sees women’s insurance premiums set to rise to be equal to men’s insurance premiums. The reason that women had cheaper car insurance premiums than men is because women are statistically safer on the roads. Women in fact have more low impact accidents but men have more high impact accidents that

Derbyshire’s fair share of tantalizing restaurants

For a real taste of England at its finest, Derbyshire is the place to be. On the edges of the Peak District National Park, exploring is a key feature of the area, and this exploration needn’t end with the stunning landscape. Towns such as Buxton and Matlock along with the city of Derby offer a variety of eating experiences you’d usually find only in much larger urban areas.
It may come as a surprise to some that the UK’s national dish isn’t fish and chips. It’s actually curry! We love our Indian food, and there are some great Indian restaurants featured on the godine website to tempt your tastebuds. A visit to www.godine.co.uk will provide you with the best Indian food in Derbyshire has to offer.

For those who fancy something a little more traditional, there are numerous good quality establishments around Derbyshire serving the best British fair. Derbyshire restaurants
