Why You Should Be Guest Blogging
Posted by admin on March, 21st 2011As a PR Agency, one of the areas we advise clients on is blogging. Not only is blogging great for your website’s SEO as Google loves fresh and unique content, but it is a great way of building relationships with customers who visit your websites.
When we discuss blogging with a client, if we feel it is right for the client’s area of expertise we may recommend that they trial guest blogging. This partly involves approaching other bloggers and asking if they would publish a post you have written for their blog. It isn’t right for every client but in certain industries where relationships are just as important as the knowledge you have, it can be a valuable tool. We have compiled five reasons why you should consider guest blogging.
1. Build relationships – it isn’t always competitive with other businesses!
2. Reach new audiences – not everybody uses search engines if they know more or less what they are looking for. Guest blogging enables you to reach an audience who weren’t necessarily looking for you before.
3. Build links – it is a well-known fact that if a PR Agency sends a press release out to irrelevant media then it won’t get used. However, if you send your news out to relevant publications then the impact your story has will be greater as you have targeted the right audience. The same goes for link building, if you get links from other relevant websites then the traffic you get from it is far more likely to stick around and remember you. Those purchasing speciality cook books are likely to want to eat at speciality restaurants.
4. Establish yourself as an expert – the more you write on your subject of expertise without giving everything away, the better. By showing off a little of what you know, readers will not only learn a bit about how you work but thank, like and respect you for sharing useful information.
5. Social media exposure – if the blog owner is knowledgeable about SEO then they may use social bookmarks and social media to attract traffic to their website and their social reach may be greater than yours, giving your business’ social media profile a boost.
Don’t forget, a lot of people would like to reciprocate, meaning the day may come where they write content for you when you may be too busy to do it yourself!
