Are you wasting valuable sales space on your website?
Posted by admin on August, 3rd 2011
A often ignored or forgotten part of internet marketing is conversion optimisation. Conversion optimisation can involve making tiny design changes to restructung the whole website. Making the most of the space available on your website is really important for maximising your sales.
Too often though, the ‘thank you for ordering‘ page is a blank page that effectively ends a customer’s journey around your website. We want to show that it doesn’t need to be this way and demonstrate that this is a hidden gem for online businesses.
So how can you make the most of the page that thanks customers for making their purchase?
1. Direct customers to other promotions – the customer already has their credit card details to hand so what is there to stop them from making another purchase? Some people might be put off by a separate delivery charge if they were to make another purchase, so you could suggest that if customers make another purchase within 30 minutes then delivery is free.
2. The ‘thank you’ page is a great place to introduce customers to your social media strategy. You can do this by giving customers the option to use Twitter and Facebook to show off to their friends what they have just bought. It is well known across internet marketing that social testimonials have a huge impact as we all feel more confident about buying from a different website if someone we know has had a good experience.
3. Shopping is more social these days but businesses are too. Many businesses partner up with others who offer complementary products or services to your own. Magento software allows web designers and developers to option to cross-sell so if your website uses Magento, there are lots of great plug ins you can use to enhance your internet marketing activities.
These are just a few ways you can make the most of the usually bare and redundant ‘thank you for ordering’ page. With conversion optimisation, it is best to make one change at a time, this way you can measure the impact your internet marketing strategy is having on your website statistics and sales.
